Find out more about our EMS placements at Fosse Way Farm Vets

We understand the importance of ensuring future farm vets gain relevant experience through EMS, aligned with the needs of today’s dairy, beef, and sheep farming systems. We value having students with us and encourage those who are interested in a future in farm veterinary practice to come and spent time seeing practice at Fosse Way Farm Vets.

Our goal is to offer placements that provide students with a true insight into farm veterinary work while helping them develop knowledge and skills appropriate to their stage in the course. Where possible, we also offer seminars to build on the foundational knowledge acquired in vet school and apply it to real clinical cases.

To make the most of your placement, we ask that you have completed some clinical training before joining us, and that you are in the final year of your veterinary studies.

Further, due to the nature of how we run our business, you will need a car for your placement and with us and, to get the best experience and see the widest range of cases, you will be required at times to drive between calls.

We also expect all students with us to be well equipped, bringing with them a minimum of:

  • Wellies
  • Clean waterproofs: at least two sets of waterproof over-trousers and three parlour tops
  • Stethoscope
  • Thermometer

We also recommend bringing lunch and water as you may be out on the road all day.

Due to high demand, placements are limited to a maximum of two weeks. For further details, please email info@fossewayfarmvets.co.uk with the completed application form available for download below.
